Day 8:

Updated: Nov 29, 2018

Today was my last official day volunteering at Friendship Trays. I started off helping Jennifer finish assembling all the food that had to be catered that morning. Once that was done, I labeled all the boxes and cleaned up the side kitchen area. Since today we started creating more holiday inspired meals (Thanksgiving style), we were all needed to help out at the tray assembly line. There were many high school kids there volunteering as well and they talked to us about their experiences here. I also put time aside to take a lot of pictures for my artifacts. The assembly line took up most of our time as there were a lot of meals having to be made. Most of the trays were a combination of Turkey, a vegetable side, and a fruit or a dessert option. There were various other trays being made based on dietary requirements, but overall all had a consisted of a holiday-inspired theme. The kitchen smelt amazing, especially the cinnamon glazed baked sweet potatoes! I was so sad that it was my last day volunteering for the semester as I had created many friendships with the people there. I promised that I would surely come back as everyone that worked there had already became like family to me.
